Here’s a simple, tasty treat for your spook-elicious holiday fun, and it’s served up on some of our new 2017 seasonal introductions!
Now let me start by saying that you do not have to be a foodie decorating genius to do these. I have attempted to decorate cakes and cupcakes in the past, and it is normally a sad state of affairs, but this turned out downright cute! This fresh alternative to caramel and candied apples is easy and fun. (My kids helped out – can you tell which are theirs and which are mine?)

Mummies and Bubbling Witches Cauldrons
Ingredients:
- Apples
- Grapes
- Candy Eyeballs
- Dipping Chocolate
- Frosting: Red, Yellow, Green
- Fondant
- Skewers
Bubbling Witches Cauldrons
First cut the tops of the apples off to make them flat. Then skewer your apples! Place your melting chocolate in a microwave safe bowl. Put in the microwave for 30 seconds on half power or defrost. Stir and cook for another 30 seconds. Repeat until chocolate is fully melted and smooth. Dip the apples in the chocolate and roll until covered. Set aside on parchment paper to harden. You can put dipped apples in the refrigerator to harden the chocolate more quickly. After the chocolate is hardened, use a decorators tube to pipe on the flames in red and yellow frosting around the bottom of the apple. Again using a decorators tube, add green frosting to the top of the cauldrons. Put a dollop of green frosting on each grape and stick the bubbles on top. Add candy eyeballs if wanted, and…Viola!
Mummies
These are super easy, and kids love them! Skewer your apples. Roll fondant into a very thin sheet and cut into strips from 1/4 to 1/2 inch wide. I found the fondant sticks to the apple better if you spritz the surface with water first. Wrap the strips in whatever way you want. Smudge a little red frosting where you want the eyes to go. Stick on the candy eyes. That’s it folks!
