Six-foot nutcrackers from IMAX will be taking over the city of Oshkosh, WI next holiday season as part of a community art project.
The project, “Nutcrackers on the Town”, will pair sponsors and artists to transform 50 life-sized nutcracker statues into works of art that will be on public display for the 2011 holiday season. The statues will be auctioned and the proceeds will benefit a local art center, opera house and arts fund. Each nutcracker can be sponsored for $1,750, with an overall goal of $100,000.
Doug Steffes, IMAX sales representative with Ivystone Group, worked with local art center, The Paine, to secure the nutcrackers.
“It’s great to be a part of something like this,” said Steffes. “The nutcrackers turned out to be a perfect fit for the project.”
Steffes said he plans to keep in contact with The Paine and is excited to see the artists’ finished pieces.
