Recently celebrating her one year anniversary with IMAX Worldwide Home, Allyson Bailey is taking care of business. With a background in Retail, and as a former owner of her own store, she’s definitely a people-person and a natural fit for the industry. We sat down with her recently to learn a bit about her during a short Q & A session.
Tell us a bit about yourself.
I was born and raised in Minnesota before moving to Montana, where I lived for 18 years. For the past 7 years, my husband Tige and I have lived in Texas. We have a son named Barrett, age 7 and a daughter, Gwendolyn “Gigi,” age 6. We have two cats and a dog named Bernie. I’m terrible at spelling, and I prefer to say “pop” as opposed to “soda.”
What do you love most about representing IMAX Worldwide Home?
My support team in the office – customer service makes my job so much easier. They look out for the customer and many times have saved the customer money and resolved issues. Then there’s Mac! She is amazing and takes such good care of us when traveling for the shows.
Tell us about some of your favorite customer experience(s):
Helping a customer achieve an objective that they have for a client – helping them succeed at their business. Also, I love Market. It’s a time to catch up with customers, hug and laugh, as well as see the new products.
Which is your favorite market and why?
Dallas of course, because I can go home and kiss my babies every night. I also love Las Vegas, because the market center takes very good care of the buyers and reps.
What aspect of your job gives you the greatest satisfaction?
Receiving positive affirmations from customers, knowing that they can count on me no matter what. Also, they can count on a few good laughs while working with me.
What is the secret to your success?
I have over 25 years experience in retail. From being a store manager at Target, to owning my own retail store for 15 years to now having over 7 years in the wholesale side of home decor & gifts – I would like to think I know what the end consumer needs and what tools my customer needs to make the sale.
Best compliment you’ve received from a customer or an example of providing great customer service?
I had a customer call me once for advice on an issue they were having with a sale. This was not even for my product, they just needed to talk about how to handle the situation.
