IMAX Corporation, working with Buckner Orphan Care International, recently donated 400 bags to needy children residing in Antigua City, Guatemala.
The bags were filled with school supplies and distributed in December as part of a larger effort by Buckner to provide desperately needed aid to children in the care of state run orphanages. The children used the bags to help carry their books back and forth to school. A portion of the bags were also given to needy children residing in a mountain village near Antigua City.
IMAX customer Wendy Hansen, owner of Wendy Hansen Interiors, and Buckner volunteer, alerted IMAX Account Executive, Shana Smith to the need after seeing the bags at the Dallas Market.
“Shana and I have become friends through IMAX. She is so nice,” said Hansen. “All I had to do was tell her about the children and she immediately wanted to help.”
IMAX is committed to environmental and social causes, said President, Al Bulak.
“We strive to not only meet the needs of our customers, but also meet needs in the global community of which we are a part,” said Bulak.
